Where do I begin? I feel like life has been flying by and I often find myself reminiscing on all the huge life updates between 2021 and 2022. I wanted to put together a behind-the-scenes Brooke Blane life and business update to share it all and I thought the timing was perfect with a new website launch underway. Look at this as an “unpolished” highlight reel of my life and some of the many magical experiences along the way.
2021 Updates
The year I got engaged, planned the wedding of my dreams, and spent MANY of my weeknights and weekends fixing up our tri-level home I purchased in November of 2020. I also did a grand total count and determined I shot 92 sessions in 2021. INSANE. I’m really not sure 2021 can be topped, but 2022 is shaping up nicely and it’s only June!!
I don’t have enough amazing things to say about our wedding day. It was hands down the most magical day and was everything I ever wanted! Stunning venue (Montaluce Winery), the perfect dress (Tiffanie Bleu Bridal), poetic images (Araka Walker photography), dreamy florals (Honeycomb Florals), flawless coordination (Jeannene Lillie Events), the sweetest friends and family, and the best fish in the sea to call my husband.

2022 Updates
Brooke Elise Creative became Brooke Blane Photography when I officially changed my name and my business name. I struggled with this for a while because I built Brooke Elise Creative from the ground up and I didn’t want to just throw that side of my business away. But in reality, my husband does SO much for me and my business behind the scenes. It only felt right as I rehearsed the new name “Brooke Blane Photography,” so I bought my new domain and never looked back. I’m happy to announce that Cory has also become my B shooter at weddings and lead accountant (we know I hate math and taxes). He is also the king at making sure I stay sane and take eye breaks on heavy editing evenings which is a crucial trait in a business partner. I don’t know what I would do without him!!

Our new addition…
We also added a new addition to our family…Amour Bronco Blane.
Our perfect little mini Goldendoodle dood joined our family on April 29th, 2022. We got him from a breeder in Liberty, SC called Double U Doodles and he is our greatest joy (and if I’m not lying, sometimes pain…??). We love him to death, but those puppy teeth are no joke!! He has also taken a liking to our custom kitchen island, leather seating, shoes, and fireplace. SIGH, good thing he’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Other news and random info:
- I got LASIK! It was scary and unnerving but honestly SO worth it and life-changing. I’ve struggled with my contacts for a while. They get dry after a few minutes of wearing them, they float around on my eyes (thanks to astigmatisms) and drive me so crazy! They interfere with my photography and I don’t want my vision to hold me back. I also have a very hard time shooting in glasses, so after tons of research and real-life references, I did it and would recommend it to anyone considering. My quality of life has improved infinitely.
- I became a published photographer in 2022 with La Modele magazine.
- Furnished my studio, hung curtains, and started shooting Boudoir. This is a bullet and essay in itself, but I just adore boudoir sessions for so many reasons. Read more about it and the experience here.
- Switched to mirrorless! I could probably write a whole blog post about how much I love my mirrorless camera, it’s just SO good. I made the switch from my Nikon D850 to a Nikon Z7ii and I never looked back. Best decision!
