It’s no surprise that the COVID pandemic has impacted a lot of weddings. Instead of letting it rain on their day, and canceling their wedding, Harli (bride) and Solomon (groom) took the opportunity to get married in a place that was special for both of them–Harli’s parent’s backyard in Aiken, SC. I hope you enjoy reading about Harli and Solomon’s COVID bayard Aiken wedding!
I remember Harli saying,
“I don’t care where we get married, I just want to marry that man”
and that’s the perfect example of making your marriage a priority over your wedding ceremony. They care more about being together than having this grand wedding, and I know the value of putting their marriage first will stick with them through their lives together.
When Harli asked if I would document her wedding, I knew it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. I’ve known Harli since middle school, and she’s always been the prettiest, most unique soul. She was a trendsetter, the one who rocked the pixie cut before it was even cool. So I knew every detail of her Aiken wedding would be just as special.
Can I also add how fun it is to watch your best friend fall in love? I couldn’t imagine anyone other than Solomon for her. They keep each other grounded and laughing through everything. Even during the engagement session, Solomon knew exactly how to get that candid laugh out of Harli. They truly have the biggest eyes for each other and I couldn’t be happier for them both.
The Ceremony
I thought it was going to be a simple, backyard wedding, but on June 19, 2020, I pulled up to the most beautiful outdoor setting, created by her parents. Not only did they decorate the exterior of the house, but they coordinated the most incredible tablescape inside with family china. Talk about custom, thought was put into every little detail.
After I documented the two say “I do” (with the teariest eyes) we headed inside for a quiche and blueberry pancake brunch.
Harli and Solomon met in Aiken, so it was perfect for them to do their bride and groom portraits at Aiken’s most well-know travel destination in Hopelands Gardens. We actually did their engagement photos there as well, and it’s one of my most recommended photography locations in Aiken, SC.
Here are some of my favorite shots from a day full of love, chill-bumps, smiles, laughs and of course…mimosas.
I also wanted to point out that Harli’s Dad made a custom bouquet holder, with the bride and groom’s names carved into the wood. HOW COOL is that??
Thank you guys for letting me be a part of your special day! It’s one of my favorite opportunities as a photographer and I will never forget it! I’m so thrilled to watch you guys grow deeper into love every second.
For anyone else who is feeling like the COVID pandemic has ruined their special day, don’t forget to put your marriage before your wedding day. Easier said than done, I know, but the person you marry and the life you spend with them will always mean more than the scene created on the day you become each others forever. Take it from Harli and Solomon ❤️
xoxo,
Brooke
